I don’t think I have ever met a kid who didn’t LOVE bubbles. Mine tend to fight over the bubble wands and solution often.

We go through a lot of bubble solution when we play with bubbles and between it spilling or wanting certain wands or just normal sibling rivalry it can get a little messy or teary depending on the day.
I found a solution to all of that! We made our own bubble wands and our own bubble solution, so we never run out.
How to Make Bubble Wands
First you will need to collect some supplies to personalize your bubble wands. We used:
- Pipe cleaners of various colors
- Plastic Beads of various colors and sizes
- You can find other ways to personalize these as well with decorations or colors
To start I made a circle out of the pipe cleaner leaving a fair amount on one end. Next I twisted that end with another pipe cleaner to produce a circle and long stem. Don’t worry too much about what it looks like at this point.
Next, hand it over to your kids and let them get to work putting on their beads. This is the fun part. My kids absolutely loved picking their bead and making it their own styles. This is also a great way for kids to work on their fine motor skills.
Once they have the pipe cleaner almost full of beads they gave it back to me. I then made sure all the beads were pushed all the way up to the circle. Then I looped the end of the pipe cleaner over the last bead and fished it back up into the others. This helps make it a little more rigid as well. Once I got the pipe cleaner pushed back up into the beads, I twisted the bottom bead to “lock” it in place.
The last step is to form the shape at the end. Basically, it just means bending your circle into whatever shape that your kids want. This was fun for them to try to think about different shapes and practice their ability to recognize them.
How to Make Bubble Solution
First Collect your supplies. You will need:
- 5 cups water
- 2 cups dish soap, such as dawn
- 3/4 cup corn syrup
- 1 Large Storage Container
Start by putting 5 cups of water into your large storage container. Then pour in your corn syrup.
Now stir it up well. Once that is mixed it’s time to add in the dish soap. Then, stir some more.
Just keep in mind while you are stirring that you don’t want to get crazy. Stirring excessive, for instance letting your three-year-old stir, can lead to a few more bubble mess than what you are going for.
Now you can store your bubble solution until you are ready for use.
Putting Your Creations to Use
When you are ready for a full bubble party it’s time to bring out your custom bubble wands and homemade bubble solution and get to work.
You will also need some smaller cups to pour the solution into for use. I just picked up some cheap disposable cups for the kids to use. Now dunk your wands into the solution and make as many bubbles as your heart desires. Or at least until someone dumps it down the front of their shirt and has a meltdown until they get a new shirt.
